This earth, our
home,
feels none of our human nonsense,
none of our human confliction and addiction,
loss of faith
and trust.
Nature connects us with who we really are.
If we fail, then, to connect with nature,
But where does this something more--
this urge to connect
within our human hearts and minds
come from?
Is it from detachment--
an illness borne of moving too far from the Source?
Or is it the glory born of our reaching out
to touch and even be the stars;
to see the face of God;
to be more as we are called to be?
This much is clear:
Spirit may be more than Nature
(or it may be simply Nature writ large)--
but if we do not live and move in nature,
connected, walking on the earth,
our spirits can wither and die
as we spend all our days
locked within our self-imposed, cerebral prisons.
