The one great life of all that is
peers forth at us from the most holy center,
and our smaller lives, such as they are,
cavort around its edges like sunspots
incandescent dancers reflecting the divine essence.
We are not alone: out there are
myriads of kindred spirits, all waiting
to take us by the arm and lead us back
toward the sun, back toward home.
We have so many holy friends we never even know about.
The life that dances along the edges
yearns to connect, to feel the fire's essence
at the center-- its radiance, its heat, even the
deep burning that sears our skins
and reminds us just how alive we are.
And though it may seem that these lives
we lead are just endless dancing on the edge,
punctuated by a burning joy or two,
remember the friends with whom you dance--
and remember your connection with all else that is alive.
From that center, deep inside your soul,
move forward to a deeper life you build--
a deeper song, a more embodied dance
which echoes loud in every human song,
and can shine as bright as a new star flashing across the sky.
